Sunday November 26, 2017 – Daniella
This week we talked about the mitzvot that we did this, like helping our parents make dinner or helping out a friend. We began talking about Chanukah and what we do on this day. The Hebrew letter we learned was Zayin and our Hebrew word was Zebra. The students coloured in the Zayin in stripes just like a Zebra. We reviewed the story about Jacob and Esau and learned that Jacob ran away from home and worked for a man Laban. He had two nieces Leah and Rachel and Jacob fell in love with Rachel and wanted to marry her, but Laban tricked Jacob and he married Leah first. Laban told him that if he wanted to marry Rachel he would have to work seven more years and that’s what Jacob did. We also learned a new song that we will be singing Sevivon Sov Sov, a dreidel song.
Next week, we will continue to learn the Aleph-Bet our next letter is Chet and our word is Challah. Then we will begin learning about the Chanukah story and who all the characters are in the story. This will be our theme until the end of this year, as we will learn the blessing for the menorah and how to light the menorah. Please if you could bring Tzedakah that would be greatly appreciated. A reminder that we are having a special Family First Friday this Shabbat with our JK/SK and Grade 1 families. Please click here for more information and to register.
Sincerely,
Daniella Lebow
