YEC – Monday December 19
This week, our grade sevens spent some time debriefing our trip to the church last week. We talked about some of the differences between the church and our synagogue, including iconography and the concept of confession. We also talked about the churches views on inclusion, and how difficult it can be to have religious views that come into conflict with socially “acceptable” use. I’m really proud of the deep thinking that the kids did, and I’m thrilled that they came to the conclusion that being Reform Jews is important to them because it means that they are able to be inclusive and open and loving of all people.
In the second hour the grade 6 and 7 classes came together for a Chanukah celebration… Family Feud style! We had a lot of fun, and learned a lot about Chanukah celebrations. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday, and we look forward to seeing you back on January 16th!
