How does Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) inspire me? WRJ, over the course of its 100 + years, has, in many ways, been ahead of the times, leading the charge on social issues in the Reform movement (#WRJWOMENACT), establishing institutions (NFTY), and investing in women’s leadership that changed cultural norms and brought new Torah to the world (The Torah: A Women’s Commentary).

When I joined the Sisterhood at Holy Blossom, I knew I had found a home of thoughtful women, well-organized and focused on shared goals. I began attending WRJ conferences where I learned practical skills in leadership development; I connected with hundreds of like-minded women over Shabbat services and began to learn about the importance of advocacy work. My spiritual growth also began at Holy Blossom and grew through Sisterhood and WRJ.

Our HBT Sisterhood, as an integral part of this global alliance of Reform Jewish women, is part of a movement of over 40,000 women who develop leaders; continue to lead key Reform Movement initiatives, such as the Reform Pay Equity Initiative; educate Reform professionals and future leaders around the world; connect with our youth through partnerships with PJ Library, NFTY, URJ’s Campus Connectors, and our camps; raise our voices for social justice; advocate for religious pluralism in Israel; and, support one another through and through.

At our most recent Fried Leadership Conference in early March, I had the honour of being installed as WRJ’s 1st Vice President. I am especially proud to represent Holy Blossom as I am the first Canadian 1st Vice President of this organization.
