Why I got involved with the Holy Blossom Social Action Initiative
By Val Waldman.
The Roma. Who are they? What is their story? Why is an action group being formed on their behalf?
As a longtime member of Holy Blossom I found that I was looking to be involved as a volunteer in a group that would be both dynamic, creative, and, above all, helpful. Freda Muscovitch- the impetus behind Holy blossom’s Out of the Cold project suggested to me that the Roma Action committee would be the answer.
After several meetings I feel that I understand some of the issues the Roma are facing in Europe and in Canada and hope that I can be of help- both as an advocate on their behalf and as a volunteer/witness at immigration hearings.
There is much work to be done and I am pleased to be able to help.
