Wednesday September 13, 2017 – Daniella
Dear Parents:
We spent our first class getting to know each other and learning everyone’s name in the class. The focus of our class this week was Rosh Hashanah and since the holiday is approaching next week we had apples and honey for snack. The JK/SK and Grade 1s made Rosh Hashanah cards for their families and the Grades 3s made really nice honey jars. We learned about Rosh Hashanah and that it starts in the evening and that we listen to the shofar in synagogue to remind us about the New Year beginning. The students listened to the four different sounds of the shofar and were able to identify all four sounds. We also read a book on Rosh Hashanah and learned about what families do during the holidays. The Grade 3s began learning the Alef-Bet and reading the Hebrew with the vowels. I’m really looking forward to seeing you all at our next session, Wednesday September 27th, as this Wednesday night we will all celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
Shana Tovah!
Sincerely,
Daniella Lebow
