These High Holy Days – see, touch, explore your new Atrium!
Shana Tova! Prepare for something truly breathtaking this New Year.
As befits the High Holy Day season of renewal, we’ll all have the chance to explore our brand new Phase 1 Central Atrium as a work in progress, either before or after services. It really is a unique opportunity to see and feel the result of these last (almost complete) 20 months of construction (not to mention the last 15 years of dreaming, visioning, planning, designing and fundraising).
The best part of all? That we have done this together. The truly jaw-dropping space that you will see, is what we made, together. It belongs to you … to us.
So we invite everybody to come and wander around the 1st and 2nd floors, as well as the lower level. (Unfortunately, there will be no access to the 3rd floor or Jacob’s Tower). See how the architecture seamlessly blends Holy Blossom’s history with our future. Imagine how differently you’ll use our spaces with an Atrium (or Temple living room) that provides connections to all aspects of Temple life, and in the process, helps connect us to one another.
As you walk around, imagine yourself spending a couple of hours here, sitting on a comfortable sofa, chatting with friends or getting some work done. Imagine quiet, reflective time in the library or in our 2nd floor lounge. Imagine breathing in the clean air our living wall helps provide, as you enjoy a cup of truly delicious coffee from our in-house café. Or attending a family service, concert or lecture in our brand new Family Chapel on the second floor.
All the latest photos are right here to whet your appetite.
But of course, our work is not finished. After the High Holy Days, Pomerleau, our general contractor, will go back to full-time work for a period of about 6-8 weeks in order to complete Phase 1. If you do the math, that means we expect our new Atrium will be finished and useable sometime in early November. And, our official opening, our Housewarming Event, is set for the first night of Chanukah on Sunday, December 2nd. So please mark your calendar for what will be a historic event the whole family can enjoy.
One last piece: As of this writing, we have already raised $28.4 million towards our Phase 1 target. That’s more than any Canadian synagogue has ever raised for a capital building project. With less than $4.5 million to go, we’re getting ever closer to reaching our target. How wonderful it would be to celebrate our Housewarming Event with Phase 1 as fully-funded as possible!
Our goal (and frankly, our need) is for every congregant to contribute in a way that is meaningful and right, for you and your family. To discuss your Renewal Gift, please contact Jonathan Ain, Director of Development at jain@holyblossom.org or 416.789.3291 ext. 249.
Once again, Shana Tova – and thank you for all your support, financial and otherwise, of our Renewal Project!
