As Elaine Greenstein is going through all her old papers in preparation for moving into a retirement home which she dubbed “the Ranch of No Tomorrow” (Rancho Manano),  she suddenly thinks she might have uncovered a hint as to the whereabouts of her twin sister, Barbara, who disappeared years ago.

This novel is a multigenerational story which tells the tale of the bonds between sisters, mothers and daughters and how we are shaped by events and those we love. It also gives us a peek into life in Boyle Heights, a Los Angeles Jewish neighbourhood in the 20’s and 30’s. A very engaging read.
