The pipes, the pipes are calling…
The most visible work on our Renewal Project this past week took place along Dewbourne Ave, just to the north of our site, as crews working on behalf of Toronto Water provided the rough-in for a new water service to our campus. As you may have observed, we have long been plagued by inadequate and inefficient water at Temple. As Toronto Water excavated the area and exposed our underground pipes, it wasn’t hard to see why. A lattice-work of old and patched metal piping, mingled with haphazard plastic replacements revealed years and years of quick fixes. Our construction team at Pomerleau has run all-new pipes into the Temple’s lower mechanical room and will be connecting these to the new service sometime in July. The results should be noticeable.
In addition, work on the final underpinning and waterproofing in the new basement area has proceeded well and very, very soon our demolition team will be completely finished their work, making way for the pouring of the new floor slabs.
As a reminder, Phase 1 of our Renewal Project includes our beautiful, light-filled central Atrium, Library, Café, Youth Lounge, Family Chapel and other spaces, all in a LEED Silver Certified, environmentally-friendly building.
