This Rosh Hashana, our Temple Board Members rose to the bima to welcome you to our newly energized Temple community—to invite you to take part and enjoy the benefits of our rich heritage and revitalized future. Our board is deeply committed and their words are heartfelt.
Here are a few excerpts from your board’s greetings.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Rosh HaShana services on behalf of the lay and professional leadership… I would like to invite you to become more involved at Holy Blossom – participating in an ongoing committee or performing a one-time task, getting involved in the religious, social, educational or renewal activities that are going on, or anything else that catches your fancy… So much is happening here, starting with the physical renewal of our building… Holy Blossom Temple is a home we all share. By getting involved in some way, we will ALL look back next ‘yontuf’ and reflect on how much we feel at home.

I grew up at Holy Blossom, I’ve been here for 50 years. While the melodies and services have changed since I was a little boy in an itchy wool suit, the sound of the shofar has never ceased to capture my full amazement… I would like to invite you to become more involved at Holy Blossom. Your energy and involvement is our Temple’s lifeblood. Whether through a one-time engagement or volunteering an on-going committee or organization, the shul is full of community-building opportunities.

Holy Blossom is a vibrant place. There are many activities almost one for every member in your families. I would like to invite you to become engaged in our community. We have many committees, task forces, religious, social, educational and renewal activities that will be enriched by new ideas and different points of view. You will have a chance to meet other members that will enlarge your social network too. Your energy and involvement is our lifeblood and adds meaning to our lives as participants.

I grew up at a tight knit community synagogue where everyone knew everyone else. When Christian and I started our family we wanted to find a place where we felt at home… , I wanted to become part of a community where our family would flourish… To our surprise and delight we found that home here at HBT. It turns out that the something special we were looking for had nothing to do with small size and everything to do with great spirit… Holy Blossom Temple is has become a home to me and my children. It is a special place with a wealth of Spirit. I’d love hear how your family came to find its home here, too.

To look around this sanctuary is to see the lifeblood of Holy Blossom. For 157 years, in several places, over vastly differing times and conditions we have come together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. Welcome. We learned in Hebrew school that these Days of Awe were a time of serious reflection and contemplation. Yet there is more, a coming together of family, and synagogue family that is unique. In many respects everything else stops while we savor the connections.
