Take a virtual tour of our new spaces!
Renewal construction updates (almost) as they happen, for the week of November 16, 2015.
Please join us this coming Sunday morning, November 22nd, at 10:00 am, for our Temple’s Annual General Meeting where our architects from Diamond Schmitt will give a succinct but fascinating virtual tour of the key spaces in our future, renewed Holy Blossom.
Turning our attention to Renewal activities in the present day, the preparatory work that will enable Temple operations and programs to continue in our School Wing throughout Phase 1 construction, should be fully complete within the coming few weeks. As you know, Phase 1 construction includes our spectacular new Central Atrium, our brand new Family Chapel and so much more – work that will be getting underway very soon!
All but one of the temporary offices for Temple staff are now ready to go (and everyone is eager to move in to their new digs just as soon as Bell can finish installing our new telephone lines); the new elevator vestibules are finished on three of the four floors; and the new staircase on the north side of the building, connecting the lower level to the first floor, is now in place.
Our electricians are still working on the difficult task of moving the fire safety devices over to the new fire panel. This work should be complete within another week or two. Our new elevator, which will provide efficient, accessible movement to all floors in the building, is awaiting TSSA inspection and licensing, now scheduled for late next week. It will be a milestone day when congregants can take their first rides in our new elevator!
Later this week, new doors on the north side of the building, facing Dewbourne, will be installed. These will serve primarily as a way out from the lower level in case of emergency during Phase 1 construction, but they’ll also provide access and egress for our extremely successful “Out of the Cold” program both during and after Phase 1 construction.
Finally, as you know from recent Life @ Holy Blossom construction updates, tender packages have been distributed to the six pre-qualified general contractor firms that are bidding to oversee the construction of the balance of Phase 1. Our Building Committee, with the guidance of our architect, will select the winning bid in less than a month from now. At the same time, the results of the tendering process will allow us to finalize our total anticipated Phase 1 budget.
As always, many thanks for your continued support of Renewal and patience for our process. For the most up to date photos and video of construction in progress, please click here.
