Sunday November 6, 2016 – Jaclyn
Dear Grade 2 Parents,
Today’s class was a continuation of our previous class, as we spoke about Havdalah, a ritual performed Saturday night to sanctify the end of Shabbat. We examined the Hebrew meaning of the word which means to, “to divide” or “to separate”, and this represents the separation of Shabbat from the beginning of the new week. We also learned about the traditional symbols and blessing that are sung and each student had the opportunity to investigate the spices and the special candle that are used during this practice. Regarding the Hebrew alphabet, we explored the letters Dalet and Resh and focussed on reading and writing.
