This week, the grade 3class began to learn about Tu B’shvat.  We read a story about the life of Wangari Mathai who led a movement to reforest the countryside of Kenya.  We learned about the different things that trees can do for us and for the environment and considered why we would celebrate a birthday for trees.  Students learned how chalutzim in Israel also planted trees to transform the landscape.

In Hebrew class, we continued reviewing letters and vowels and we began reading very simple sentences.  We are also preparing a song for the grade 3 class Shabbat on February 3red.  We to perform it as we present our first Tedakah initiative for the community.
