Sunday February 26 – Jaclyn & Rebekah

Dear Grade 2 Parents,

In today’s class, we learned about the upcoming holiday, Purim. We learned about the Book of Esther found in the Megillah, and watched a short film on the story of Purim. We examined the various characters and discussed the theme of heroism and how Esther is an example of a brave Jewish leader who is remembered as a hero for saving the lives of the Jewish people.

The students had an opportunity to reflect on the theme and relate Esther to heroes in their own lives. In Hebrew class we learned new letters- Kaf, Chaf and final final Chaf, and practiced reading and writing them.

Since we’ll be learning more about Pruim, it would be fun if the children would wear costumes for next week’s class (as there is no class on March 12)
