The Hilltop by Assaf Gavron is about a settlement in Israel and the political machinations surrounding it.
Hailed as “The Great Israeli Novel” (Time Out Tel Aviv) and winner of the prestigious Bernstein Prize, The Hilltop is a monumental and daring work about life in a West Bank settlement from one of Israel’s most acclaimed young novelists because of the story line.
It could be the “The Grapes of Wrath” in the way it indicts Israeli society on the way it treats the settlements on the West Bank (or Judea and Samaria), and how society tries to ignore the existence of the Arabs. The book is three stories in one.
