SINGING…Is Just The Beginning
Dear friends,
I would like to share with you a subject close to my heart.
To be a Cantor has indeed been a gift and privilege throughout my professional life. For almost five decades I have been involved with our two professional Cantorial organizations, namely the “American Conference of Cantors” (of the Reform movement), and the “Cantors Assembly” (of the Conservative movement). I have served both organizations as a member of the Board and as Vice-President of the ACC (American Conference of Cantors).
Our profession and calling has evolved into unimagined proportions and precedents, as it has been a gift to serve all our communities. Today’s Cantor functions in a much wider capacity than in the Golden Age of the Hazzan. We embraced and wove ourselves into the very fiber of our communities in all aspects of Jewish life.
Please watch this short video which only touches so intensely on what the life of a Cantor means to our communities.
Enjoy.
