We want welcome to the Holy Blossom Temple family two wonderful new Shinshinim, Israeli emissaries, Gil Peled and Noga Ben Tzvi will join us for the 2016-2017 school year – Holy Blossom’s 10th year in UJA Federation of Greater Toronto Israel Engagement program! This new team will join us at the end of August 2016.
Gil will join us from Haifa, where he is a Grade 12 student at the Leo Baeck High School. He volunteers as a supervisor of counsellors for the Sea Scouts, a special unit of the Israeli Scouts. Gil also plays tackle football for a local Haifa team. Noga comes from a small moshav near Gedera, in south-central Israel, called Shdema. She is also very involved in the Israeli Scout program, as a supervisor of other counsellors. She loves working with children. They are amazing young people. We are fortunate to have them with us.
Our Shinshinim come to us from August 2016 through to June 2017 after which they will go to a summer camp in our area. They live in host homes throughout the school year. This is a truly marvellous experience for all members of the family – one that creates a lasting bond between the host family, the Shinshin, and his/her family in Israel. You will always have family in Israel after becoming a host family! If you or anyone you know might be interested in hosting one of our Shinshinim for a 3-4 month period, please contact Debbie Spiegel.
