Sh’Ema Kol Shofar – Who Harkens to the Blast of the Shofar

As we usher in the month of Elul we are awakened by the haunting sound of Shofar. Each morning at Shacharit we are called to pay attention to the awakening sound of Shofar. Historical recounting the origin of Shofar can only add to our understanding of its importance to our collective memories as a people. The blast of Shofar during the month of Elul and then the compounded variations of the voice of Shofar resounds within each of us individually and has its own impact upon our lives.
