Shavuot 5776: Zman Matan Torateinu – The Time of Giving Torah
Erev Shavuot
Saturday, June 11, 2016
8:00 p.m. Services and Cheesecake Reception
9:00 p.m. Tikun Leil Shavuot with Rabbi Ed Treister
“Pesach Jew vs. Shavuot Jew: How do the credal statements of these two festivals shape our Jewish identity and actions?”
Edward Treister has served as a rabbi in Montreal and Houston, Texas and as an educator and instructor in Louisville, Kentucky and in Israel. A Toronto native, he earned a BA in Modern Languages and Literature from the University of Toronto, ordination from Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston. His ability to “compare and contrast” both on paper and in life infuse his insights into Torah and the Jewish condition–in English, French, Hebrew and Texan.
The learning continues at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre’s All-Night Jewish Learning Festival. Join Rabbi Splansky, Cantor Maissner, Rabbi Satz and Rabbi Helfman for a full night of community building through study.
Over 50 sessions reinterpret and reimagine traditional Jewish texts and open up new conversations. Special programs for kids and teens. Click here to learn more.
