Sermon: Yom Kippur Yizkor – Not Lost, Just Missed
Main Sanctuary 3:30 p.m.
Rabbi Yael Splansky
There’s a difference between saying something is missing and saying it is lost. Lost is a permanent state. Lost is forever. Missing is temporary. So perhaps we should not say, ‘So-and-so lost his mother.” That mother is not lost. She is only missed! And she can be found. As can all of our beloved dead be found – again and again – through memory.
