According to the Talmud, “On Purim we should drink until we can’t tell the difference between the curse of Haman and the blessing of Mordechai.”[1] In essence, this is drinking until we can’t tell the difference between good and evil, until we can’t tell the difference between right and wrong. This is drinking to excess until we forget who we are – until we lose ourselves. There’s something wrong with this message – something very troubling.
