And so Moses went up the mountain to receive the Law and the Law was delivered: You shall have no other gods, make no idols, observe the Sabbath. Rabbi Samuel Holdheim, one of the Talmudic scholars in the early 1800s, which began the Reform Movement, looking at the loss of peoplehood amongst his fellow Jews, and in an effort to preserve the Sabbath proposed moving the Sabbath to another day of the week.
