September 20, 2014 – Rabbi Splansky’s Installation Weekend Celebration
…and now with this New Year 5775 laid out before us, standing together with you good people, this night, I feel as if I hear these words – Lechu v’Nelcha – as if for the first time. This is the season of possibility. Tonight we usher in a new era in the life of Holy Blossom Temple… Rabbi Yael Splansky – September 20, 2014
Dear Rabbi Splansky,
I am touched by the video. I feel that at least I got a taste of your installation weekend. I have spoken to a few friends you were able to celebrate with you and your family, and they spoke in superlatives about the weekend.
Mazel Tov, and Shana Tova to you and all your family. Best wishes for a sweet and healthy year.
We very much enjoyed being with you on both Friday & Saturday evenings!!!!
Mazel Tov to our new Senior Rabbi, Yael Splansky!!
May your tenure be filled with many wonderful events!!!!
We wish you and your wonderful family nothing but,”Blessed Blessings”!!!!
Since tomorrow evening is the beginning of the Jewish New Year, 5775 !!!!
Shonah Tovah to all!!!
What a moving film! And what a beautiful weekend our congregation has just spent
celebrating Yael Splansky appointment as Senior Rabbi of Holy Blossom Temple! With her deep Torah learning, her gift of oratory and warmth of personality, she brings great qualities to the leadership of our synagogue. I wish her and her family good health and strength in the years to come!

In Rabbi Splansky’s first installation address, which she delivered 16 years ago during Sukkot, she used the metaphor of a basket filled with ripe produce to allude to the many “gifts” that she carried with her and had brought to share with us — such things as the Jewish memories and experiences of growing up as the daughter of a rabbi, the stories told around her grandfather’s table, the wisdom that had been imparted to her by her own teachers. Since her arrival we have been the most fortunate recipients of her many many gifts, which have only become more manifest.
As we assembled the centrepieces for the installation reception (the baskets of apples and honey), it occurred to me that they were not only seasonally appropriate, they symbolized the gifts of knowledge, wisdom, insight and compassion that have long sustained and enriched us, and the words that continue to resonate long after they have been delivered. As we now move forward together, we pray that we will be worthy partners with you in the task that lies before us, and that your leadership will give us the inspiration, strength and clarity to realize the potential that lies within us.
