Yesterday was an amazing first day for Grade 1. After getting to know each other, we discussed Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, and the meaning of both holidays. We talked about why we eat sweet foods for a sweet new year and why some people fast on Yom Kippur. We also talked about apologizing for our past mistakes, and the meaning of the shofar. before heading off to tefillah. After, we got to meet the shinshinim, practice writing “Alephs” and even took turns blowing on a play shofar!
