Renew your membership for a renewed Holy Blossom
We are full-steam ahead on construction!
Construction Update: July 2, 2015.
As we’ve been reporting in our Life at Holy Blossom e-blasts since early February, we are more than well underway with construction on our Renewal Project … indeed, we’re right in the thick of it. And the exciting changes to our campus are beginning to take noticeable shape.
This is the preparatory phase of Renewal, to allow for all daily Temple life and programming to continue on-site throughout Phase 1 construction. Essentially, we’re moving our Rabbinic offices as well as Temple administrative staff into the School Wing. We’re also installing the new elevator for our new campus and building new stairwells and fully accessible washrooms on our lower level near the Philip Smith Congregational Hall.
The bulk of Phase 1 construction – including our transformational, light-filled central Atrium, beautiful new Family Chapel and Library, fully renovated administrative wing and state of the art electrical and HVAC systems – is slated to begin right after these upcoming High Holy Days.
To be inspired by our latest floor plans and renderings, an electronic version of the booklet circulated with the Temple’s Membership Renewal package can be found here. And, as we announced in early April, we will be staying in our home at 1950 Bathurst Street for every service throughout the whole of the 2015 High Holy Days.
So here’s an update on where construction activity stands this week:
- Our new elevator shaft has reached the first floor! Indeed, the slab just inside the Boardroom is now being removed to enable the shaft assembly to continue. We are on-track to have all of the work on the new shaft completed just prior to the arrival of the elevator cab in mid-July.
- Work is proceeding on our new washrooms on our lower level.
- Doors for our temporary Rabbinic and administrative offices should arrive in the next week, marking the completion of these offices – ready for moving day later this summer!
- Our electricians are continuing the massive job of re-wiring our campus, so that all Temple life will continue, without interruption.
We look forward to seeing you during the High Holy Days and, as always, we appreciate your enthusiastic support throughout our Renewal construction process.
