Holy Blossom Temple is gearing up to offer its Spring 2015 Living With Dementia program, in partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital’s Reitman Centre.
Alzheimer’s disease is often called a family disease, because the stress of watching a loved one slowly decline affects the entire family. Every 68 seconds someone develops Alzheimer`s disease, one of the most common forms of dementia.
Holy Blossom Temple`s Living With Dementia program is offered free to family members caring for a loved one experiencing dementia. It is open to the entire community – members and non-members. This 10 week program is unique. It is comprised of support, education, coping and communication skills development for family member caregivers as well as a stimulating program for their loved ones experiencing dementia. Each of the 10 week sessions closes with a group judaic experience led by one of Holy Blossom’s Rabbis or Cantors.
