Our Clergy Team is now complete! Welcome Rabbi Michael Satz
Please join us in welcoming our new Associate Rabbi, Michael Satz.
Rabbi Satz comes to Holy Blossom with seven years of experience, most recently in a large Reform congregation in San Diego. He brings many strengths and interests. In addition to his wide range of rabbinic responsibilities, Rabbi Satz will reignite our Social Action agenda and will work closely with our Education Team to plan our ambitious Adult Education Program.
We look forward to welcoming Rabbi Satz to Holy Blossom in mid-July.
We thank Past President, Morris Cooper for chairing the Associate Rabbi Search Committee which was successful in bringing Rabbi Satz to Holy Blossom Temple. We appreciate the good work of the committee.
They are: Gord Arbess, Morris Cooper, chair, Eric Klein, Erin O’Connor, Les Rothschild, Carole Sterling, Rabbi Yael Splansky, Liz Tarshis

My path to the rabbinate began during high school when I spent a summer studying in Israel, but it was when I was a junior in college that I decided that I had to be a rabbi. While spending my year abroad at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, I had the opportunity to help lead Pesach seders in small towns in Ukraine with other young Jews from America and Ukraine. After helping people rediscover the beauty and meaning in their Jewish lives, I knew that I had to dedicate my life to the same task back in the U.S. I entered Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem and then in Cincinnati with the goal of thinking of ways to awaken in people of all ages the quest for Jewish learning and living that animates my life.
At Beth Israel in San Diego I worked a lot with our preschool and religious school students and families. I especially loved teaching our tenth grade Confirmation class and taking them on a yearly trip to Washington, DC. I was also the rabbinical advisor to the Social Action Committee and concentrated on outreach to San Diego Jews in their 20s and 30s.
Before coming to Beth Israel I was the assistant rabbi at Congregation M’kor Shalom in Cherry Hill, NJ. I grew up in St. Louis, MO and will always be a Cardinals fan. I graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans in 2002. I am married to Rabbi Janice Elster, a Toronto native, and we are the happy parents of Eitan Elster-Satz and Ammiel Elster-Satz.
