Prep work almost completed!
Renewal construction updates (almost) as they happen, for the week of November 30, 2015.
With the close of the calendar, the preparatory work of Phase 1 is now almost complete and we expect to see the balance of Phase 1 construction start in earnest early in the new year. That means work will get underway on our magnificent new, sunlit Atrium, Family Chapel, Library, Youth Lounge and so much more – all in a LEED Silver certified and environmentally-friendly building – very shortly.
But for now, the most-visible construction is the exterior work near the Ava Road parking lot and the children’s play area, as trenching for the new telephone lines is underway. We anticipate this work will be completed by the end of this week. In addition, crews are putting the very final touches on our temporary administrative offices in the School Wing, so staff can move in very soon.
The new staircase on the north side of the building that connects the main floor to the lower level is now fully installed and awaiting terrazzo coating. As soon as that’s done we’ll open the staircase for use. The doors for our new north entrance into that stairwell are now here and will be installed soon.
Finally, as you know from recent Life at Holy Blossom construction updates, tender packages have been distributed to the six pre-qualified general contractor firms that are bidding to oversee the construction of the balance of Phase 1. Our Building Committee, with the guidance of our architect, will select the winning bid in the next few weeks. At the same time, the results of the tendering process will allow us to finalize our total anticipated Phase 1 budget.
Happy Chanukah from all of us involved in our Temple Renewal Project and many thanks for your continued support and patience. For the most up to date photos and video of construction in progress, please click here.
