Our contractor is on-site! Atrium construction about to begin.
Renewal construction updates (almost) as they happen, for the week of May 2, 2016.
An exciting and highly productive kick-off meeting with our general contractor, Pomerleau Construction was held last week at Holy Blossom, attended by members of the Renewal Project Building Committee and Steering Committee and representatives from our architectural firm (Diamond Schmitt) and lead mechanical, electrical and structural consultants.
In perhaps the most tangible sign yet of a renewed Holy Blossom campus, Pomerleau will begin mobilizing operations on site this week starting with moving their equipment and some materials onto the west-side of the Dewbourne parking lot. All of this in order to begin construction of our transformative, light-filled Atrium and the rest of our Phase 1 spaces: our new Library, Café, Youth Lounge, Administrative Wing and much more, all in a LEED Silver Certified environmentally-friendly building.
A detailed construction schedule is currently being prepared by Pomerleau, but several months of interior and exterior demolition work are in our immediate future, as we begin taking down our old elevator, plus walls, floors and ceilings from the Ava Road Foyer right through to the Dewbourne side. All items of value have already been moved from these spaces into the School Wing (our temporary home for the balance of Phase 1 construction) and you’ll see safety fencing and hoarding going up throughout the rest of this week and next.
Given this kind of activity, it only seems appropriate to remind you that all of our daily and weekly activities are staying on campus throughout all of Phase 1 construction, including our High Holy Day services this fall: in our Sanctuary, in the Philip Smith Hall and in other spaces within our School Wing. Much more information to come on this throughout the spring and summer!
