OH SO LIGHT AND AIRY!
OH SO LIGHT AND AIRY!
As work proceeds at a fast clip – now that summer appears to have blossomed overnight – one can begin to appreciate just how dramatic our new Central Atrium will be. Our contractor has almost finished constructing the curtain wall on the south (Ava) side of the building and will be ready to install the glass panels when they arrive later this week. This will essentially complete the look that we have been featuring in all of the artist’s renderings in our publications for the past years.
On the north (Dewbourne) side, a wall of glass is already in place that will not only provide a great view out over the soon-to-appear lower level outdoor courtyard, but will also bring light into the new lower level foyer and even more light into the Atrium and the new school offices at the north end of the second floor.
Last but not least, all of the glass panels are in place for the beautiful skylight that will illuminate the Atrium from north to south and create a welcoming environment for our members and guests. See the photos of all this glass!
And, here’s a trivia question: How many exterior glass panels in total will be installed on the north and south sides of the building combined? We’ll provide the answer in our next report but please send your best guess to templemail@holyblossom.org. Closest guess wins a guided tour of the construction site led by our Executive Director, Russ Joseph!
As you know, Phase 1 of our Project includes not only our light-filled Central Atrium, but also our brand new Family Chapel, Café, Youth Lounge, Judaica Shop, Library, modern heating and cooling systems and more … all in a LEED Silver Certified, environmentally-friendly building.
Aleinu … It is upon US.
Two editions ago, we told you that our Phase 1 fundraising had surpassed the $27.5 million mark. More good news after a strong fundraising month: we are now within kissing distance of $28 million!
