October 4 – Grade 4
Dear Grade 4 Parents
It was a little chilly outside, but a nice day in class. We started by reviewing the Tishrei holidays, talking about Shemini Azeret, with our prayers for rain in Israel. We concluded with exploring the meaning of Simchat Torah, which was the next chag.
The Torah is divided into Parashot (Chapters),that we read each week. Simchat Torah, is the day that we honour this beautiful gift from God by reading the last chapter of the Torah, and the first one again.
It was fantastic to have my students marching with me at our celebration for Simchat Torah here at Temple on Monday. Thank you so much to all who participated!
We had music and Services concluding the season of the High Holidays.
In Hebrew we continued practicing our reading for fluency using the 10 Minutes of Hebrew reading” book. We talked about rain and warm clothing, reading and playing with the vocabulary on the Hebrew class book: “Geshem”= rain.
The homework for this week is: read bottom of page 6 of the 10 minutes of Hebrew reading book.
Looking ahead we will start our program about the Mitzvot and Israel.
Each week we will look inside one of the Commandments exploring ways to fulfill it in school and at home.
