October 25 – Grade 5 – Tali
Shalom everyone
We have mastered our Avot prayer and started the second prayer of the Amidah – Ge’voorot, a prayer that talks about God’s powers. I sent copies of the prayer home for the students to practice. We started to talk about the powers, how God heals the sick, frees the captive, sustains life and more. Next week we will continue.
In the study of prophets, we read and introduced a new prophet – Joshua. We talked about the time when he was a prophet, about the fact that he was a great military leader and at the same time a prophet. He was Moses’ successor, and one of the twelve spies sent to scour out the land of Canaan. We also read that he had some uncertain moments in his life and that he needed encouragement from God when he was leading the Children of Israel to Canaan. I asked the students if they can think about uncertain moments in their life, when they did not think that they could achieve something and needed encouragement. What was the outcome?
We will continue our study of Joshua next week.
As it is 20 years to the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, we to some time to remember, and had a special conversation with Bar and Noam, our Shinshinim.
Oh yes and music with Mike is always fun.
Have a great week.
