November 19 in Grade 6

Lindsay’s class:

This week in class we talked about biblical history, particularly the contents of the Torah. We found out where in the Five Books of Moses our favourite Torah stories are and how they relate to the bigger picture of Jewish Biblical history. We then went through and found each of our portions for our upcoming Bar or Bat Mitzvahs and learned about what happens in our portions!

Next week we are going to be talking about the story of Hanukkah and place it in our timeline of Jewish history!

In class this week we spoke about Jacob and Esau and their complicated relationship. How Jacob wanted the birth right that Esau had and how he tricked Isaac into blessing him. We spoke about what it’s like to fight with a sibling and what it means to make up with them.
