Students learned about key women in the Book of Exodus; Shifra and Puah, the Hebrew midwives who went against Pharaoh’s word and saved the Hebrew baby boys, instead of killing them. We discussed the significance of this story, and the fact that it is the first recorded instance of civil disobedience in the Torah.
