On Monday October 23, Holy Blossom’s Grade 7 students spent the first half of their session ‘debriefing’ with regards to last week’s visit to the mosque at Keele and Sheppard (Imdadul Islamic Centre). We discussed what was learned regarding Islam, its relationship to Judaism, as well its place within Canada’s multicultural, multi-ethnic and multi-faith fabric. A dynamic conversation, to which all contributed!
During the second half of our evening’s learning, the students explored – through drama presentations – the different persuasions of Judaism: Orthodox, Reform, Assimilationist and Zionism, that were prevalent in turn-of-the-century Russia, and that impacted on Jewish life in North America, Israel and throughout the rest of the Jewish world. Good work by all!
The Grade 7 students continue to rise to the challenges with which they are presented. It’s a strong group of learners, and we look forward to further rewarding Jewish education experiences in the weeks and months to come.
Shavua tov – a good and healthy week to everyone, and todah rabbah – thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement.
