Monday November 27, 2017 – Grade 6
From Cantor Wunch:
This week, Cantor C’s grade 6 class learned about the Babylonian Empire and the siege of Jerusalem. We learned how the first Temple was destroyed and the Jews were exiled. We also learned about how Jews, without the Temple in which to perform sacrifices, started praying instead. We also joined with the rest of the school for our monthly tefillah.
From Rebekah:
This week in Grade 6 we finished up our conversation about ideal prayer spaces, and learned a little bit about the Jewish people’s exile and the creation of the Diaspora. Together we read Psalm 137, and spoke about the feelings associated with exile. The students reflected on their own experiences being in an unfamiliar place. Finally, our students participated in a musical service in the Youth Chapel.
