Monday May 1st, 2017 – Grades 6 & 7
We had an interesting evening last night, celebrating Israel’s “yoms” as they are called – Yom HaZikaron (Remembrance Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terror) and Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Independence Day). We looked at a couple of things.
First: We reminded ourselves of the many families that have been affected in Israel as a result of the challenges of becoming and maintaining a state. We then had some fun – making the national pastime – hummus and learning more about periods in history which has affected the Jewish community in Israel and the Diaspora. Finally, we looked at some very interesting new Israeli inventions that have come to market recently. It was a lot of fun learning about it all.
