Monday January 30 – Grade 7
We had a wonderful night at the Imdadul Islamic Centre. It was important for us to go at this time of darkness in our world – both under the shadow of the attempted Immigration Ban signed South of the border, and the darkness cast by the shooting in Sunday in a Canadian Mosque. Police were on sight to keep our kids safe, and we felt very safe surrounded by friends and fellow children of Abraham. The Plague of Darkness which we read about this week, our rabbis say, was so terrible because it meant that we couldn’t see the faces of our neighbors. We learned about Islam, about Canadian Muslims, and about Judaism – but more importantly this trip let us meet our neighbors face to face.
