Monday January 29, 2018 – Grade 6
This week Cantor C’s grade 6 class continued learning about the great rabbis Hillel and Shammai and the debates that their schools had. We also started looking at some more modern Jewish ethical debates. Ask them about it!

Rebekah:
This week in Grade 6, the students engaged in some amazing discussion while prioritizing central pillars that make up Judaism. Working in groups, students had to select Jewish symbols, values and traditions to eliminate, and make an argument as to why it could be eliminated. Groups were given opportunities to counter other groups’ arguments, resulting in very active debate! Nearing the end of class, we connected their priorities discussion to the destruction of the second Temple and the riddance of spiritual sacrifice in the Jewish tradition. Looking forward to more discussion next week!
