This week the Grade 6 students had the opportunity to visit the main sanctuary with Rabbi Helfman. In learning the blessings for before and after reading Torah, and in anticipation for their upcoming Bar and Bat Mitzvot, students were able to look at a Torah scroll up close, and learned about the ways in which Torahs are made. Rabbi Helfman also spoke a great deal about the history of Holy Blossom’s main sanctuary.

Core:

In moving forward through Jewish history we took some time today to speak about the sources we can use to learn about our history. We discussed the difference between primary and secondary sources, and had a discussion about which sources we felt were the most effective and why. For example a history textbook and a diary or a recipe book and the talmud. We have many sources which can be used to help us understand our Jewish past, present and future!
