On Shabbat , February 6 after the congregational Kiddush, please join Rabbi Michael Satz for a study session on the “life of Moses Maimonides”. The Shabbat program will be followed by a visit from the author, Dara Horn, PhD, who will speak on her book, A Guide for the Perplexed on Wednesday, February 10th at 7:30 p.m. Dara is a wonderful speaker and educator. Dara comes to us through the Centre for Jewish Literature at Holy Blossom Temple which strives to bring the best of contemporary literature to the congregation. Please join us, bring along a friend, for both of these sessions and enjoy the “perplexity of Maimonides”.
Dara Horn is a best-selling, award winning author. An author of many books, A Guide for the Perplexed is one of Booklist’s Best Books of 2013 and was long listed for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. The book is “an engrossing adventure that intertwines stories from Genesis, medieval philosophy, and the digital frontier; a novel of profound inner meaning and astonishing imagination”. Please join us on February 10th!
I am so sorry I will not be in town. Dara Horn is an extraordinary writer. I have loved all her books. Wonderful that she is coming to Holy Blossom. Thank you!
Ruth
Come study with me on this Shabbat before Dara Horn’s talk to learn about some of the ideas about God, Torah, and Jewish practice that Maimonides has given to us through some of his major works. Hopefully it will be enlightening and challenging.
