Joan Garson: Six years completed as Chair of ARZENU
By Mark S. Anshan.
Joan Garson completed six successful and intensive years as Chair of ARZENU – the International Federation of Reform and Progressive Religious Zionists, our umbrella Reform Zionist organization through which we are represented in the World Zionist Organization and Jewish Agency for Israel.
On June 20th, Joan was honoured for her leadership and extraordinary term as Chair at a special Shabbat dinner held in Jerusalem at Kehilat Kol HaNeshama. Many of us in attendance had the opportunity to reflect on Joan’s work and thank her, including Rebecca, Joan’s daughter. Rebecca will be starting law school this fall at Hebrew University.
Under Joan’s leadership, ARZENU’s participation in the work of the WZO was greatly enhanced and new country constituent organizations have been formed in Europe. Congratulations to Joan with sincere thanks for her work and leadership.
