Jacob’s Tower Tours during Religious School

This Sunday, October 20^th, we began taking religious school classes up to see our renewed Jacob’s Tower.

Nearly all of our Sunday Grades 3-5 participated on the hike up to the top to look out on our beautiful city. After spending time being awed by the clear view, we discussed how our tower has a different purpose than the towers on churches and mosques.  Instead of being a place to call others of a particular faith to worship, it is a call to all who see it that they should live better lives.

Before we made the descent back into our every-day routine, we took the moment to sing Mah Tovu in Jacob Hertzman’s memory.  As the walk down began, our children took note of the names on the wall, and heard about how when they are still involved in Jewish education in Grade 10, they will have the honour of making sure their name is inscribed as well.

We wish upon all that made the journey to the top of the tower that their personal Jewish journeys will continue and that they will continue to be shining examples to others.
