The face of the Middle East is changing rapidly. The region is in the midst of a historical revolution, challenging the realities in existence for a century. This creates unprecedented opportunities for Israel, but it also poses unprecedented and unpredictable threats and dangers. All this takes place against the background of massive changes in the global balance of power which affect the region in myriad immediate ways. Israelis at times fail to realize that they live now in the best of times, but also in the worst of times.
