In Celebration of Rabbi Karen Thomashow
Rabbi Thomashow has brought compassion and insight to so many members of our congregation; she has brought collaboration and vision to so many areas of Temple life. After six years of devoted service to Holy Blossom Temple, it’s time to thank her and wish her well as she prepares for the next stage of her rabbinate in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Saturday, May 25, 10:30 a.m.
- Shabbat Morning Service and Kiddush-Lunch
- Children’s Creative Learning Program incorporated into the morning.
Rabbi Thomashow has had a unique impact on the lives of our children and teens and has led the way in our Campaign for Youth Engagement. To carry on with this essential initiative, a new fund has been established: The Youth Engagement Fund. To honour Rabbi Thomashow for her lasting impact on our congregation, please support this exciting effort to animate Jewish life for the coming generation.

I will miss you, too, Richard.
And I will look forward to celebrating together on the 25th.
Karen,
You are such a special person. What a pleasure it’s been for me to work with you in the community. We both share a passion for Jewish youth and a love for what we do. Thank you for lending your voice to the URJ Camp George Steering Committee and for all that you do to support Jewish overnight camping and Youth Engagement.
Camp George and I will both miss seeing you, but more importantly our children at camp, HBT and all across the GTA will miss having you here in Toronto.
Hope to be there to celebrate “You” on Shabbat morning May 25.
Warmest regards,
Marc Newburgh, Past Chair of URJ Camp George Steering Committee
Dear Marc,
You are so kind!
I have certainly felt a kindred spirit in you—and have really enjoyed working together on a number of fronts.
I think that you are a tremendous asset to this community, from whom I have learned a great deal.
Thank you so much, and I do hope our paths will cross, Karen
Karen,
We hope you know what an impact you have made in our community and with our family. Our children jump at the opportunity to go to synagogue so they can spend time with you. . . . youth engagement at its finest! You have been a leader in our congregation and a personal friend to us. We are going to miss you but, at the same time, are thrilled for you to embark on this new chapter. Thank you for everything!
All the best,
Aliyah, Shira, Jeremy and Barbara.
Karen,
As much as we hope you realize how much you mean to our family, we do have a special bond – as you were installed as a Rabbi at Holy Blossom Temple at Jessica’s Bat Mitzvah. Beyond that, over the years we have grown to appreciate you even more… for the impact you’ve had on the youth at Holy Blossom (which is unparalleled and crucially important), your involvement in the many programs at Temple such as Out of the Cold, Holy Sprouts and others… your gentle strength and youthful wisdom. Most recently, your role in teaching Nadine Jewish history as she progresses in the adult Bat Mitzvah program, and having the opportunity to socialize – it has been our pleasure getting to know you up close. And while we will miss you, we want to wish you and Yonatan, and Alma, the very best in your next chapter in Cincinnati. We hope they realize how lucky they are to have you.
With great fondness,
Bob & Nadine Charendoff, Jacob and Jessica
Karen,
You have been such a burst of positive energy for our family and the Temple. You have been a tremendous leader in our community and have served with passion, intelligence, kindness, heart and sense of fun. We will all miss you. Thank you for all that you have done. All the best in Cincinnati!
All the best,
Gordie, Sharon, Josh, Adam & Olivia
