Hitting bottom to build back up
Renewal Project Updates (almost as they happen)
As previously reported in these updates, excavation on the lower level to create our new mechanical room plus essential storage areas (beneath the former administration wing), has been proceeding nicely and is now almost complete.
At the same time, the crew from Pomerleau Inc. (our general contractor) has been carefully removing wall and floor sections from the levels above and placing temporary shoring where needed, to prepare for construction of the rest of our new Phase 1 spaces. However, before any of this “building up” can take place, massive steel beams that will temporarily support our roof, wall and floor systems during construction must be hoisted into place. We anticipate that the steel beams will begin arriving on site within the next two weeks and will be moved into place soon after.
As a reminder, Phase 1 of our Renewal Project includes our beautiful, light-filled central Atrium, Library, Café, Youth Lounge, Family Chapel and other spaces, all in a LEED Silver Certified, environmentally-friendly building.
