Generating Excitement for our Project!

As work proceeds apace on our exciting Renewal of Space, this past week saw the arrival of the back-up generator. As those of you who live in close proximity to the Temple can attest, the reliability of the local electrical grid is less than ideal and, especially during inclement weather, power outages are regular occurrences. As a result, and to protect our guests and staff, a generator of sufficient capacity to ensure constant operation of the life-safety systems in the building, was included in the specifications requested by the Building Committee.

This important piece of equipment arrived with much fanfare, necessitating a closure of Dewbourne Avenue. A massive crane – we were told it had a 150 ton capacity – blocked the road and then, once the receiving crew was in place on top of the new mechanical room, it easily hoisted the generator into place. Perhaps an even more exciting development also occurred this past week, as Phase 1 fundraising surpassed the $27.5 million mark.
