Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group
Seeking members for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Working Group
Holy Blossom has been invited to join the JewV’Nation Cohort, a program of the Union for Reform Judaism’s Audacious Hospitality program. As part of this work, we will be creating a working group to begin and engage in the foundational work of DEI practices (i.e. understanding, identifying and acknowledging concepts such as unconscious bias, micro/macro aggressions, and disrupting “business as usual”). We will assess the community’s current inclusive and equitable practices, set goal(s) based on foundational work and assessment, and establish concrete next steps.
As we engage in this important work, we abide by the phrase, “Nothing about us without us.” We are hoping that individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds are included every step of the way, and that our working group reflects diversity with regards to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, socioeconomic status, etc. In addition to various identities (race, class, gender, sexuality, disability, socioeconomic status, etc….), we also want to include people with various levels of community involvement, including people who have never had a leadership role at the Temple.
As part of our commitment to the URJ, we will meet once or twice a month from March-August, and may continue past then depending on our needs.
If you are interested in serving on this working group, please be in touch with Abigail Carpenter-Winch.
