Disaster Relief: Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines
“What is might? When you see people about to fall and rescue them.”
— Midrash Tehillim (52:24).
The Reform Community has a long history of generosity when natural disasters devastate communities. The URJ (Union for Reform Judaism) and the CCRJ (Canadian Council for Reform Judaism) are members of the Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief, which allows a unified Jewish response to natural and man-made disasters that occur outside North America.
In response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan which made landfall in the Philippines on November 9, 2013, the URJ and CCRJ, are collecting donations to be distributed to aid groups working in affected areas.
