Demolition with the skill of a surgeon
Work is continuing on site as Pomerleau, our contractor, guides its work force through the intricate, delicate process of removing specific pieces of the existing structure. This work, to preserve the critically important parts that will form the backbone of our new Atrium, Family Chapel, Library, Café, Youth Lounge and other beautiful spaces – all in a LEED Silver Certified environmentally-friendly building – is part of our Phase 1 construction process.
Most of the shoring is now in place, enabling removal of the soil beneath the slab, creating the new basement mechanical room and storage areas. On the upper floors, the team has removed a maze of old utility tunnels, making way for the pouring of new floors, several months from now. They are also drilling openings in existing walls that will eventually accommodate new mechanical pipes.
Pomerleau continues to work away, fully respectful of our people and our operations. We are thrilled that our Renewal Project has just been recognized as Pomerleau’s Top Site in the GTA, a further indication of the degree of professionalism that we are seeing.

In fundraising news, we’ve now passed the $22.35 million raised mark, out of the $29.5 million total budget to complete Phase 1 of the project, with many active “asks” in progress. As you know, we’re in the process of reaching out to each of you on a one-by-one basis, for discrete personal meetings about your family’s gift to Renewal, and how you can be honoured for your generosity to Holy Blossom. If you’re interested in holding this discussion sooner, please contact our Director of Development, Jonathan Ain, at jain@holyblossom.org to schedule your meeting.
