Construction updates (almost) as they happen!
For the week of April 6th.
We have seen considerable progress these last two weeks on site, as we continue with our preparatory work on the school wing to enable it to house the Temple’s offices and activities during Renewal Phase 1 construction.
Five classrooms on the 3rd floor and two on the 2nd floor are in the process of being transitioned into offices for Temple clergy, our Religious School and Early Childhood Centre, as well as space for our new elevator shaft and vestibule. Wiring, insulation and drywalling is now complete. Work continues on our lower level near the Philip Smith Congregational Hall to dig the new elevator pit. If you’ve been to our Renewal page on the website or have seen our Facebook posts, no doubt you’ve seen the video of the concrete cutting in progress, as well as other photos of HBT in transition!
Over the course of the next two weeks, we’ll open a new door on the west wall of the Boardroom to enable access to the stairwell and to the laneway. That will allow our contractor to temporarily close off the doors to the Ava Foyer in order cut the floor for our new elevator. On the 2nd and 3rd floors, all newly partitioned walls will be taped and sanded for painting, all electrical in those offices will be roughed in and ceilings in these areas will be repaired and lighting installed.
And as always, we appreciate your patience and flexibility during the construction process as we try our best to keep disruption to a minimum.

Good to know that we will be “at home” for the High Holy Days and we are sure that any relocation’s will be worked out to the best possible effect for our congregants.
Kol Ha’kavod to all concerned with the construction project and the communications to the congregation.
